Deadpool 2 - Wet like a firecracker

In 1991, when comics writers Marvel Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza imagined anti-hero Deadpool popcornflix, they did not really understand that they had created a kind of superheroic Frankenstein monster.

In the Marvel team, Popcornflix Deadpool Movie, a former mercenary condemned by a blazing cancer and saved by a mad scientist, has always been a head burn. Back from the dead, this superhero with the same regenerative power as Wolverine is the only one to know that he is only a character of comics. From then on, he evolves in a meta-universe where his black humor, his cynicism and his violence allow all winks. That's why the first adaptation, a sort of punk replay of the genre, was able to surprise and entertain fans.

This coolness is unfortunately absent from this second episode, where Ryan Reynolds spends his time making a mockery of the very structure of a film of superheroes, his codes, his backstage, his narrative grammar. Reynolds is having fun. Josh Brolin cabotine super-bad come from the future, Cable. But as Deadpool can not die, the stakes of the plot dwindle quickly. Too many references kill the reference. Small anecdotal jokes turn quickly empty. Two well-staged action sequences ensure the show. But the real problem remains: how to be interested in a film that does not even believe in itself?
